Grow lights are centered on photosynthesis, providing the light wavelengths necessary for house plants & indoor plants. Plants need certain wavelengths of light to perform photosynthesis, and these wavelengths are not readily available in your every day light bulbs. If I had done my research sooner rather than later, I would have known that grow lights are more energy efficient than traditional light fixtures, and that not all light is created equal. I thought to myself “if my plants need more light, then I’ll leave the room lights on while I’m at work.” This was very effective… at burning a hole in my wallet as my house plants continued to die. I’ll admit that I was initially skeptical of grow lights, did not want to spend the money, and honestly couldn’t find one even remotely stylish, so I really was not about to spend the money on an ugly grow light. With the wrong plant light, your little (or not-so-little) house plant will either not be able to make the energy it needs to sustain itself OR with too much light, the indoor plant will become sunburnt and dry up. ![]() Simply put, plants use a process called photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of yummy sugars. ![]() Like most living organisms, light is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for house plants and plant care! Without the proper plant light conditions, your house plants are certainly headed for demise.
